Credit bureaus (also known as credit reporting agencies) are companies that collect, package and sell information about your financial affairs. There are hundreds of credit bureaus across the country, but the industry is dominated by three major credit bureaus. The three major credit bureaus are TRW, Equifax & Trans Union. Usually you will find that most local credit bureaus are affiliates of the major companies listed above. It would be wise to call a few merchants or lenders in your local area and ask them whom they subscribe to for credit reports.
