CREDIT MANUAL -- PAGE 35 Savings

Saving money in a bank account versus applying it to a credit card usually has an adverse effect. You are paying in excess of 18% yearly on the credit card versus obtaining 5-8% annually on your money in a savings account

If you are trying to repay credit cards that allow you to obtain cash readily, then I suggest putting all your money into the credit card, because in an emergency occurs then you can all ways get a cash advance at the nearest bank or ATM. If, however, you are paying off department store charge cards then I would suggest putting a little money aside for an emergency unless, you have a credit card that can be used to get a cash advance or some other source of ready cash.
