Credit Reports - Purpose

A Credit Report theoretically represents an image of you as a person and your financial capability. A good credit report usually makes the difference between being accepted or denied for a loan. Because this document is so important you could assume that it should be very accurate and update because a person's lifestyle rides on it; but this is not true. Studies have shown that 7 of 10 Credit Files contain erroneous information; some quite serious. Even people who think they have good credit often find mistakes when they view their credit report.

Obtaining Credit Reports

When was the last time you have reviewed your credit profile? If it has not been within a year then it is suggested that you do so immediately. Credit Reports are very easy to obtain; simply contact your local Credit Bureau, listed in the Telephone Directory, and follow their instructions; the cost for Credit Reports range from $0 - $12.00. You can receive a FREE credit report if you have been recently denied credit. You can usually write the Credit Bureau instructing them to send you a copy of your Credit Report and simply signing your name at the bottom of the letter. If you have been turned down for credit then, it is not necessary to pay the service fee; simply enclose a copy of the rejection letter as proof. If you want to begin rebuilding your credit as quickly as possible, visit your local Credit Bureau and get a copy today!
