The Tau Lambda Chapter Education Foundation
of The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity in the seventeen years of its existence has done the following:
provided financial assistance to high school graduates entering college; financially assisted Cub Scout and
Boy Scout units, contributed to the scholarship funds of Tennessee State University; Fisk University
, Meharry Medical College, and The American Baptist College. Contributions are made to the United Negro College Fund,
NAACP and other worth causes.
Tau Lambda Chapter projects a Youth Concerns Program. This includes conducting group meetings with
teenagers on a variety of issues: career choices, proper curriculum selections in high school, teen-age parenting, social values
and graces, civic involvement and responsibility, staying in school; one-on-one counseling as needed;
field-trips for recreational and education experiences; and, sponsoring of Junior Leagure sports teams,
The Youth Concerns Program receives its major support for the Foundation.
Alpha South, the Fraternity's regional organization, conducts a one week Leadership Workshop each summer. The
Foundation provides full tuition for local participants who are admitted, and who need assistance in order to attend.
The work of the Foundation is made possible by the generous support of the public, and the contribution of Alpha men
of the area. The Foundation is very appreciative of the trust and confidence placed in its endeavors.
In carrying out the work of the Foundation, Tau Lambda feels that it keeps faith with Alpha's
Founders, Their ideals and goals were to meet the need for developing leadership in education,
citizenship responsibility, business, and all professions.
